Ivie and Nicole met over fifteen years ago while attending the University of Washington. They were fast friends but their friendship was sealed when they got cooking together. Some of their fondest memories from their early twenties took place in grocery stores and a variety of kitchens. Life has separated them (Ivie is still in Seattle and Nicole is in Eugene) but not a week goes by that they don’t trade recipes or stories of great (and terrible) meals.
Nicole: I thought it would be fun to pick a new recipe to tackle each week, document its preparation and the finished product. Ivie and I both enjoy good food but we have very different favorites. I’m looking forward to her challenging my talents and taste buds. I hope to do the same!
Ivie: I thought this would help me get out of my cooking slump and awaken my creative side again. Each week we will pick a recipe to try and each put our own spin on it. It will be interesting, because I am definitely in a meat eating family, and Nicole enjoys more veggie filled meals. I’m looking forward to trying something new and sharing these experiences with my best friend, even though she lives almost 300 miles away.
Each week Ivie and Nicole will prepare and eat a new recipe. Sometimes they will cook the same thing, sometimes they will try something the other did in a previous week, and sometimes they’ll just share favorite successes and failures. Recipes will come from cookbooks, magazines, other blogs and occasionally ourselves.
